The short version

• Reading this site does not create an account or set a cookie from this site, and this site sends nothing about you to an advertiser. Fonts load from Google Fonts and videos are embedded from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode; those requests reach Google with your IP address and browser details, as any web request does.
• The decision tool shows your result whether or not you share your answers. Sharing is a box you check, and it is unchecked by default.
• If you check it, the tool stores your answers without your name, email address, phone number, street address, date of birth, or IP address. They are not fully anonymous: in rare cases a combination of details could point to one person.
• You can ask me to delete stored answers at any time.

Page-view counting

Vercel Web Analytics counts page views on this site. It is first-party and cookieless. Each visit is identified by a temporary hash generated from the request, which Vercel discards within 24 hours. For each page view it records the time, the page address and any query string, the referring page, the country, region and city, and the browser, operating system and device type. Vercel states the data is not tied to any individual or IP address and does not follow you across websites.

Vercel, which hosts this site, also keeps ordinary server logs. The ones I can see are held for about a day or less, and like the logs of any website they can include an IP address. The endpoint that receives decision-tool submissions reads your IP address only to limit floods and does not save it.

The decision tool

What is stored, if you check the box

• The facts you entered about your case: for example your AHI range, the share of central apneas, your sleep endoscopy result, whether you have tried CPAP, the adhesive patch and tape answers, whether you expect to need MRI scans, and the type of sleep study you had.
• Your answers to the six trade-off questions and the result the tool gave you.
• The optional “about you” ranges: age range, sex assigned at birth, race or ethnicity, country and state, BMI range, insurance type, where you are in the process, and how you found the tool. Each except country can be left as “prefer not to say”; country starts as United States.
• The page you used, the site that referred you, any campaign tags in the link you clicked, the version of the tool, and the date and time.

What is not stored

Your name, email address, phone number, street address, date of birth, IP address, or any account. The form has no free-text fields, so there is nowhere to type them. Height and weight entered into the BMI helper stay in your browser; only the BMI range is stored.

Why

To report, in aggregate, what people weigh when choosing between these devices, as on the patient priorities page, and to improve the tool. Responses are not used for advertising, are not sold, and are not shared with Inspire, Nyxoah, VCU Health, or anyone else; Supabase and Vercel hold them for me as hosting providers (below). They are not research data. If I ever want to use them in a research publication, I will first obtain an institutional review board determination.

Where, and who can see it

Responses are stored in a database hosted by Supabase. The site and the endpoint that receives submissions run on Vercel. Both hold the data as hosting providers under their standard terms. Only I read individual responses, through a password-protected dashboard and the database console, and I analyze them with software, including AI tools, running under my own accounts. I also keep working copies for analysis on my own computer; a deletion request covers those as well.

How long

Individual responses are kept until I delete them. I have not yet set an automatic deletion date; when I do, this page will say what it is. Aggregate counts and averages are kept.

Your choices

Leave the box unchecked and nothing is stored; your result appears either way. To have stored answers deleted, or to ask what is stored, email contact@sleepapneaimplant.org with the approximate date and time you used the tool and, if you entered them, the country and state you selected. Because no identifiers are stored, I cannot find a response by name and cannot confirm that a response is yours, so I will delete every response matching your description and confirm by reply. If I decline a request, I will say why, and you can reply and ask me to reconsider. Please do not include personal health information in that email; the contact rules explain why.

Other tools on this site

The insurance checker, the Genio usage report builder, and the two quizzes run in your browser and store nothing. The NIM signal trainer has an optional feedback form for industry representatives; what is typed into it is stored so I can review it.

Children

This site is written for adults. The decision tool is not intended for anyone under 18, and I do not knowingly store answers from a child.

Changes

When this page changes, the date below changes with it.
